Currently residing in Vancouver, Canada, Shaky Snakes makes music from his home, which happens to be an apartment. This is the part where I tell you how his music differs from all the DIY musicians and this time, you WILL be sold.
Our premiere is taken from Shaky Snakes' Del Boca Vista, his latest EP. The record is a short little collection of intricate experimental layers empowered by bleary components of melancholic drones. If you're a fan of Washed Out's distant vocals and the obscure auto-tuned Sufjan Stevens, then you'll really appreciate the lo-fi utterances of Shaky Snakes. Del Boca Vista is where folk-tronic meets its destiny with hazy pop. The exclusive track, titled "Clark Drive Sunrise" has a suspenseful undertone between the sounds of ocean waves and his voice being dauntingly compressed. It lingers through your ears and the rest of your body in a wistful yet satisfying manner.
Snakes says the sample was from a British piano man, adding "I wrote it with a very specific visual in mind; driving in the early morning, in slow-motion - right into the rising sun - all lens flare and bluriness. The words are based on a mantra I try to remind myself of as much as possible: don't worry about others or what they think about you. Do your thing and follow your heart and/or the sun."
Tomorrow, Shaky Snakes will release Del Boca Vista for free on his bandcamp. He will also have a limited amount of cassette tapes available via Purr Tapes. Support the cause and pre-order it below.

In a genre full of bragging, boasting, sex & gun toting it's good to have artists like Kero One making the kind of positive, lighthearted music he's known for.If you're looking for complex lyricism, unfortunately you will fail to quench your thirst, but if you're looking for a fix of chill & at times socially concious music by an honest artist then you simply cannot overlook this Korean-American rapper.
This particular cut is off of his third album, Kinetic World, an album that actually came out almost two years ago. Now I'm not entirely sure what the intention of releasing a video so late is, maybe to breathe new life into the album? Either way I'm happy to see one of my favourite songs off of Kinetic World with visuals.

Fayetteville,North Carolina native/Miami-based singer-songwriter Steven A. Clark recently unveiled the accompanying visuals to his recently liberated Mr. Familiar produced track "Chemistry." The visuals, to quote a line from the song's hook, are "out of this world" and abstract. Created and edited by Free LVE, the near three-minute video contains excerpts from Russian writer/director Mikhail Karzhukov's 1962 sci-fi film, Battle Beyond the Sun.
While Clark is absent from the video, that in no way affects the vid's ability to connect with and convey the song's message. I personally feel some of the most creative and entertaining vids are those in which the artist are not present. As stated in a previous post, "Chemistry" will not be featured on Clark's upcoming album Fornication Under Consent of The King. However, the track is available for download via Soundcloud.
